Lecta unveils sustainable flexible packaging solution

Lecta has expanded its Metalvac metallised paper range with a new product, Metalvac Seal Oxygen Barrier, a recyclable flexible packaging solution for the food industry.

The new product, which aligns with circular economy principles, is designed to meet the industry’s need for both technical performance and sustainability.

The Metalvac range is known for its heat-sealability and barrier properties against light, water vapour, oxygen, and aroma, all while being per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances-free.

The new Metalvac Seal Oxygen Barrier solution ensures efficiency on standard packing lines, the company said.

With only 0.08gsm of aluminium content, it is said to offer high barrier performance.

The product is suitable for a variety of food products, as well as pet food. It is available in weights of 83 grams per square metre (gsm) and 93gsm and can be printed on one side, with a heat-sealable high-vacuum metallised backside.

Lecta’s Metalvac Seal Oxygen Barrier can be converted into common packaging formats, offering a sustainable solution for the flexible packaging sector.

The product is produced in compliance with multiple standards, such as good manufacturing practices and food safety, as well as environmental certifications.

In April this year, Lecta introduced Creaset HGP, a coated paper with grease-resistant properties applied to one side, created specifically for use in flexible packaging.

The paper solution has earned a 95 out of 100 recyclability rating from the Confederation of European Paper Industries.
