ALCA introduces products using SIG’s aseptic pouch system

ALCA, a supplier of tropical fruit ingredients, has announced the launch of the first products filled via SIG’s next-generation aseptic spouted pouch system with in-line pouch sterilisation, SIG Prime 55 In-Line Aseptic.

This system eliminates the requirement for third-party pre-sterilisation of spouted pouches.

The launch will occur at Anuga 2025, a food and beverage trade fair being held in Cologne, Germany, from 4 october to 8 October 2025.

Aseptically packed products retain essential nutrients, flavours and natural colours without the use of preservatives or refrigeration.

ALCA is the first customer worldwide to market products using the new SIG Prime 55 In-Line Aseptic.

The system has filling speeds of up to 55 pouches per minute, filling volumes from 30ml to 500ml, and in-line sterilisation that lowers operating costs.

ALCA operates three factories and exports to more than 70 countries, providing bulk packaging for further processing to makers of baby food, beverages and healthy snacks globally.

The company has launched an aseptic pouch featuring SIG’s CloverCap closure.

The initial products in this format will include two fruit ingredients – banana and MD2 pineapple.

ALCA will also offer co-packing services with this capability.

The company is introducing the first aseptic pouch into the market as a proof of concept to collect market feedback. This project using the new technology will inform the development of additional products and co-packing options for its clients.

The Farm to Pouch line includes the Clean Commit logo, which indicates food safety, quality and sustainability.

Through Clean Commit, consumers can learn how aseptic technology maintains food safety and preserves natural qualities for up to 12 months.

SIG president and general manager Americas Ricardo Rodriguez stated: “For decades, we have set the global benchmark in aseptic carton packaging, and now we are bringing that unmatched expertise to the pouch segment. The SIG Prime 55 In-Line Aseptic is an exclusive innovation that showcases our ability to combine food safety, efficiency and flexibility, while creating new growth opportunities for our customers and raising the standards of the entire industry.”
