Christmas Comes Early For Old Bay Fans: Metal Tins Are Back

McCormick’s Old Bay spice blend was traditionally packed in tin containers until the summer of 2017, when the brand transitioned to plastic. It might seem like an innocuous change, but many fans weren’t happy with it (shout out, Maryland Reddit fam), not least because the new packaging had a nasty habit of losing its lid when pouring that Bay onto food, creating a mess or ruining a meal.

Some consumers resorted to saving and reusing the old tins, refilling them from the new plastic containers.

OLD BAY, the iconic Chesapeake Bay seasoning, is changing its packaging from plastic back to its original material, tin. While maintaining its fan-favorite logo and design, this brings back the classic feeling and user experience of years past, on shelves this month.
