The Recleo range comprises polyolefin recyclates and compounds intended for applications in sectors including mobility, building and construction, household appliances, infrastructure and consumer goods.

The materials in the Recleo line are derived from verified post-industrial recycled (PIR) and post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic waste streams.

The new brand complements the existing Borcycle M portfolio, which is based solely on post-consumer plastic waste.

Borouge marketing and innovation senior vice-president Youssef Taha stated: “Recleo expands customer access to certified recycled materials at scale. By consolidating our recycled portfolio under one brand, we help customers integrate circular materials more easily into existing production systems.”

Borouge and Borealis state that Recleo has been developed to help customers address changing regulatory demands, citing in particular the European Union End-of-Life Vehicle Regulation (ELVR) and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

Several products in the series are RecyClass certified and are manufactured under the IATF 16949 quality management standard.

Recleo will be offered globally, with Borouge and Borealis highlighting security of supply and consistency of quality as focal points for the new brand.

The recyclate materials are also intended to be used alongside the firms’ virgin polyolefin grades to raise recycled content in applications such as film production and extrusion processes.

The launch promotes the reuse of end-of-life plastics through certified mechanical recycling.

Borealis circular economy solutions vice-president Dirk Langhammer added: “With Recleo, we are reorganising an important part of our mechanically recycled portfolio that is highly relevant to our customers. It unites our fit-for-purpose mechanically recycled grades into a global portfolio and makes sustainability affordable in all applications.”
