Smoking is Back (and, Yes, It’s Still Deadly)

Smoking is back, and it’s back in a big way.

While it might have seemed like we’d wriggled free from the chokehold cigarettes had on society up through the ‘90s, just as mid-century modern furniture and vinyl have made a roaring comeback, so too has the cigarette. But unlike Eames chairs and turntables, cigarettes can kill us.

We have seen some of the most enviable, trend-setting young stars in Hollywood, like breakout Heated Rivalry hottie Hudson Williams (who’s only 25), who smoke so openly and consistently that you would think it’s clearly a concerted personal brand choice for their image. Admittedly, Williams does make smoking look very sexy and pretty damn cool, despite our better judgment and what we all know those cigs are actively doing to his hot boy lungs. He’s smoking in campaigns for Giorgio Armani, he’s smoking on his own time while galavanting around NYC, LA, and Milan, and he’s even smoking throughout his keenly curated Instagram grid, with one post from this January accompanied by the tongue-in-cheek caption, “happy new year. quit smoking ☑️” To which we say,  PLEASE!!!
