- Standards developer PR3 has announced a new mark to indicate packaging reusability.
- Unlike the “chasing arrows” recycling logo, products bearing PR3’s symbol must meet the organization’s reusability standards.
- Colombian creative studio Epigrama created the reuse symbol, which was chosen from 236 submissions across 29 countries.
Most of us are familiar with the “three Rs:” reduce, reuse, and recycle. And we’ve all seen the ubiquitous recycling triangle with three arrows, designed by USC student Gary Anderson in 1970, for which he was paid $2,000.
But the “reuse” of the three Rs now has its own symbol, courtesy of PR3, a standards-creating organization with a mission to scale reuse packaging systems. Working with over 80 associations across industry, government, and civil society, PR3is an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited standards developer that also works alongside the Canadian Standards Association (CSA Group) to publish and adopt standards bi-nationally.
