How2Recycle Adds Current and Local Recyclability To Packaging With ‘Recycle Check’ QR Code

You’re likely familiar with the How2Recycle label. Just stop at your local grocery store and pick up almost any food or beverage brand, and you’ll spot their labels explaining the general recyclability of the packaging in a clear, easy-to-understand format.

The How2Recycle program, soft-launched in 2012, now has over 800 participating members. It collects data on a national level to determine a package’s recyclability and is run by the environmental non-profit GreenBlue. The aim is to increase recycling rates through consumer education.

Now, GreenBlue’s How2Recycle program recently announced an upgrade called How2Recycle Plus. Even though the name sounds like another niche streaming platform, How2Recycle Plus adds a new feature to its familiar labels called Recycle Check, which provides consumers with a current and localized “yes or no” answer about a packaging’s recyclability.
