ULMA Packaging launches TFX thermoforming machines for food packaging


ULMA Packaging, part of the ULMA GROUP, has launched its new TFX series of thermoforming machines tailored for food packaging.

The new machines are specifically designed to tackle challenges in the food sector, focusing on enhancing production efficiency, promoting sustainability, and embracing digitalisation.

The TFX thermoformers are aimed at improving operational capabilities while helping manufacturers reduce their environmental footprint, the company said.

A key feature of the thermoformers is their movement synchronisation, which is claimed to boost productivity by up to 10%.

In addition, the revamped vacuum system shortens the cycle time by 20%, enabling faster and more efficient production runs, the company added.

Built for optimal performance and reliability, the TFX machines are reportedly capable of producing high-quality packaging while utilising eco-friendly materials.

Several advanced functions such as automatic film alignment and precise zone heating ensure consistent packaging quality throughout the production process.

To meet food safety requirements, the TFX range includes in-line quality control mechanisms that inspect labels and the sealing area.

Additionally, features such as touchscreen-controlled tray height adjustments and rapid-release systems for longitudinal cutting have been incorporated.

ULMA has also implemented a radio-frequency identification (RFID) system to reduce errors during format changes.

The TFX machines feature centralised recipe management, which automatically adjusts settings in accordance with production orders.

Additionally, built-in monitoring systems track resource consumption, including film, electricity, air, and gas, and generate detailed portable document format reports at the end of each production cycle.

This data offers manufacturers an overview of their production efficiency.

In June last year, ULMA Packaging launched upgrades to its RFID-based maintenance system.
