WeighPack announces vertical FFS machine with paper film

WeighPack Systems, seller of automated primary packaging solutions, has announced its ultra-compact VersaPak vertical form fill and seal (VFFS) bagging machine, now running with paper film—a major leap toward sustainability in flexible packaging, and good for small bakery items, the company says.

As the demand for eco-conscious alternatives to plastic packaging surges, paper film has emerged as a preferred choice among brands looking to reduce their environmental impact, reports WeighPack. With recyclability, compostability, and a natural aesthetic, paper film reportedly aligns with consumer expectations for cleaner, greener packaging solutions.

This economical packaging machine is engineered for applications requiring flexibility, short runs, manual, or automatic loading. Using non-proprietary flat roll stock film, pouches are produced with top and bottom seals and a vertical back seal—delivering clean, consistent packaging with minimal footprint and effort, the company reports.

It can also be integrated with a printer, allowing manufacturers to print real-time information such as lot numbers, expiration dates, and QR codes directly on the pouch—providing instant access to product details, promotions, or traceability data with a single scan.

Bag size capabilities:

  • Bag widths: 2 to 8 inches (50 to 200 mm)
  • Bag lengths: 2 to 12 inches (50 to 300 mm)

Key features:

  • Compatible with recyclable and compostable paper films
  • Built-in touchscreen interface for simple operation
  • Can be used for a wide range of industries: food, hardware and more

With paper-based flexible packaging gaining traction globally, VersaPak represents a solution for brands of all sizes looking to go green without compromise, WeighPack says.
