Ardagh Glass Packaging introduces new 300g glass wine bottle

Ardagh Glass Packaging-Europe (AGP-Europe), part of Ardagh Group, has released a new glass wine bottle that weighs 300g.

This development features a lightweight design while maintaining strength and visual appeal, the company said.

The introduction of this bottle comes as the wine sector faces challenges related to environmental sustainability.

The 75cl bottle is designed for still wines and is engineered to perform effectively on high-speed filling lines.

It is built to endure the rigours of supply chain handling while preserving the aesthetic qualities that glass packaging is known for, all with a notable reduction in weight, the company added.

This new product reflects AGP’s focus on advancing sustainable packaging solutions, aimed at assisting wine producers in achieving their sustainability goals.

AGP-UK sales director Nick Witton said: “This is more than a lightweight bottle, it’s a complete packaging solution.

“We’ve developed a 300g bottle that also delivers the strength and premium look that brands and consumers demand.”

Earlier this month, AGP-Europe announced that it would produce emerald-green bottles for its long-term partner, Jägermeister, using its NextGen Furnace technology.

This collaboration aimed to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions associated with the production of the existing Jägermeister glass bottle.

AGP-Europe had been manufacturing bottles for Jägermeister for over 20 years.

Ardagh reported that the NextGen Furnace technology has shown its capability in creating amber glass packaging, resulting in a 64% decrease in carbon emissions.

This was accomplished by using 60% renewable electricity and integrating up to 70% recycled materials.
