The upgrades are part of GEA’s Kinetic Edge Design, which aims to enhance accessibility and cleanability.

Compatible with GEA’s aseptic filling platforms, including ABF, EcoSpin, Whitebloc, and Unibloc Flex, the new module can handle a wide range of beverages, from still and carbonated drinks to dairy-based and sensitive products.

The modular architecture adapts to various production capacities and bottle formats such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET), aluminium, and glass containers.

It also supports multiple closure types and can process up to 60,000 bottles per hour, depending on the configuration, GEA said.

A novel gripper mechanism prevents bottle rotation during capping and allows for tool-free, automatic format changes, improving equipment effectiveness and reducing operator error, stated the company.

The GEA Kinetic Edge frame opens up key access zones and minimises the number of removable panels, creating wider, maintenance-friendly service areas.

The design aims to provide technicians with better component visibility and simplified component handling while quick-lock access doors reduce the time and effort needed to enter the aseptic chamber.

Digital tools integrated into the new filler aim to minimise downtime and aid operator efficiency.

A new 24in human-machine interface (HMI) with AI-assisted alarm diagnostics uses data from GEA’s global installations to identify likely root causes for issues and suggest solutions.

The digital board provides high-visibility status updates and machine metrics, enabling operators to remain informed from a distance.

GEA R&D project manager Luigi Casappa said: “The new HMI, Digital Board and mechanical layout are not cosmetic updates – they are all based on real feedback from users. We focused on solving everyday pain points in a way that improves both line performance and confidence.”
