The configuration of the press was developed jointly by Koenig & Bauer and Advance Paper Box – Packaging Spectrum.

It will include eight printing units, followed by a coating unit capable of both aqueous and UV finishing, two drying sections, a further printing unit, and a final coating stage before output.

This setup will allow the company to apply multiple finishes, such as varnishes and tactile coatings, in one run. This aims to target premium packaging applications that require advanced visual and surface effects.

The design supports single-pass production for complex folding cartons, aimed at meeting requirements for higher-end packaging.

The new Rapida 106 features automated logistics to move pallets from start to finish without manual handling.

It also includes digital tools for energy monitoring and AI-based analysis to help improve operational efficiency.

This press will replace an older machine from another supplier.

Advance Paper Box – Packaging Spectrum plans to coordinate work between its existing Rapida 145 press and the new Rapida 106, aligning production tasks with each machine’s strengths according to job specifications.

Advance Paper Box – Packaging Spectrum president Nick Silk said: “For us, this press represents more than just the latest in automation and system availability.

“It embodies our forward-looking vision and reflects our ongoing commitment to serving our customers. This new showcase press enhances our flexibility, automation, and throughput for world-class packaging applications.

“We chose Koenig & Bauer because they met every requirement of our demanding customers and configured the perfect press to support our future growth. It was driven by a clear objective: to elevate our operations to the next level in automation, reliability, and capability.”
