Thai Coconut Expands Production with Aseptic PET Line from Sidel

Thai Coconut, a leading manufacturer of coconut-based products, traditionally for packaging in cans and cartons, has adopted Sidel’s PET packaging solution to expand its exports of coconut juices, while ensuring international standards of line efficiency, low resource consumption and high-performing packaging.

To meet its needs, Thai Coconut turned to Sidel for its complete aseptic PET line – which in turn had to be flexible enough to produce both carbonated and still coconut juices, while also delivering total food safety, operational efficiency and packaging design that is both functionally and visually appealing.

“We chose Sidel due to its strong reputation and proven expertise in the aseptic market. Sidel’s packaging team have also developed a new bottle design, which enhances both our marketing impact and shelf presence,” said Montri Banraungsanor, Chief Technical Officer at Thai Coconut Public Company Limited.

Safety and efficiency with real-time monitoring

Thai Coconut’s installed line integrates Sidel’s Aseptic Combi Predis™ technology, operating at 45,000 bottles per-hour. This advanced system seamlessly combines preform sterilization, blow molding, filling and capping into a single, efficient process. Throughout, product integrity is maintained and shelf life for sensitive goods, such as coconut products, is effectively extended.

Predis technology employs a dry preform decontamination method, significantly reducing both water and chemical consumption while never compromising food safety. Consequently, Thai Coconut benefits from the most robust food safety standards while optimizing resource usage.

Additionally, Sidel’s Evo-ON performance technology is integrated within the line to monitor and optimize production in real-time based on actionable insights for operators and management.

Flexibility and ease for alternative packaging formats

The aseptic line can process both CSD and non-CSD aseptic products on a single line, offering enhanced flexibility in terms of product and packaging formats.

It accommodates multiple distinct bottle types of coconut juice, 350ml non-CSD and 350ml CSD using the same filler, further underlining its flexibility. This versatility helps to optimize total cost of ownership (TCO).

Aseptic Combi Predis is engineered for operational simplicity, allowing users to manage the sterilization process with ease, limit downtime and minimize the need for extensive training.

Export readiness

A key driver for Thai Coconut’s partnership with Sidel was the need to meet international regulations, particularly those set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Sidel’s aseptic PET production line is FDA-ready, ensuring that products manufactured on the line comply with requirements for export to the US and other global markets. Currently, 90% of production from the new line is designated for international markets, allowing Thai Coconut to access new growth opportunities and reinforce its reputation for quality and reliability in the global beverage industry.

Assured packaging design expertise

Sidel’s expertise in both aseptic technology and packaging played a pivotal role in assisting Thai Coconut to introduce a new bottle design, enhancing marketing opportunities and increasing shelf distinction.

“We’re recognized by customers as a reliable partner for PET packaging and aseptic solutions. Demonstrating our commitment to the performance of our customers, during customer validation, the recent line installed at Thai Coconut delivered 100% efficiency,” said Parkpoom Praprom, Sales Director for Southeast Asia Pacific at Sidel.
