YUTOECO launches FluoZero for food packaging in China

YUTOECO, a Chinese provider of eco-friendly packaging solutions, has introduced FluoZero, a per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)-free greaseproof technology specifically created for use in moulded fibre food packaging.

This new product is claimed to tackle critical challenges in delivering sustainable and high-performing greaseproof solutions for the sector.

The company asserts that its FluoZero technology is entirely free from PFAS and is fully plant-based, being crafted from agricultural byproducts, thus offering a renewable alternative.

It also noted that FluoZero-treated products can withstand temperatures ranging from -34°C to 220°C, ensuring protection for up to eight hours.

This makes it ideal for applications such as frozen food packaging, airline meal boxes, and high-temperature containers for fried foods.

In addition to the catering industry, FluoZero also offers a more sustainable and reliable solution for products like hair dye mixing trays in industrial packaging sector.

YUTOECO stated that FluoZero products are thinner than their traditional moulded fibre alternatives, offering better bending stiffness and bursting strength.

The FluoZero technology has earned a United States Department of Agriculture biobased certification, compostability certifications from the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) and DIN CERTO, and complies with US Food and Drug Administration food contact regulations.

In a news release, YUTOECO said: “YUTOECO’s launch of FluoZero is in line with its longstanding commitment to sustainability. Since the establishment of the YUTOECO brand, the company has been dedicated to eco-friendly packaging solutions, shifting from process innovation to material innovation.

“FluoZero represents a significant step forward in this journey, offering a packaging solution that is not only high-performing but also safe and environmentally responsible, driving the transition towards a greener future.”
